Dilution Statutes at Law Glossary

What is it? State and federal statutes that allow the owner of a famous trademark to prevent uses of its mark by other companies in such a way as to tarnish or blur the distinctiveness of the mark. Unlike lawsuits under a traditional trademark infringement lawsuit, the plaintiff in a dilution suit need not prove that there is a likelihood of confusion between the famous mark and the challenged mark.
